For years, Disney Channel fans have wondered why franchises like High School Musical and Descendants received third installments, while the Camp Rock series one of the most iconic musical films of the 2000s stopped after two movies. Now, more than a decade later, their calls have been answered Disney has officially confirmed Camp Rock 3 is in development.
The announcement comes on the heels of an unforgettable reunion between Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas, who surprised audiences at the Jonas Brothers’ Greetings From Your Hometown Tour in August 2025. Nearly five years after admitting she had lost touch with her Disney co-stars, Demi joined Joe on stage to perform their beloved duets “This Is Me” and “Wouldn’t Change a Thing,” sending millennial and Gen-Z fans into a nostalgia-fueled frenzy.
While the reunion itself was enough to dominate headlines, it was Demi’s husband, Jordan “Jute$” Lutes, who may have tipped the scales toward a full-fledged sequel. Demi further teased fans with an Instagram recap captioned, “Mitchie is back,” sparking immediate speculation that a third film was already in motion.
Weeks later, Joe Jonas all but confirmed the rumors during an appearance on Hot Ones Versus. When asked to read the last reminder in his Notes app, he revealed: “Read Camp Rock 3. … Sorry, Disney.” Shortly after, he, Nick, and Kevin posted a video recreating Joe’s famous line from the first movie—“I’m Shane Gray, for crying out loud” on what appeared to be a film set.
Though fans may be disappointed that Demi will not reprise her role as Mitchie Torres, the singer-turned-actress is still very much part of the project. Lovato has signed on as an executive producer, ensuring her influence shapes the sequel. The Jonas Brothers are confirmed to return as Connect 3, and Maria Canals-Barrera will reprise her role as Mitchie’s mom, Connie.
Disney has also revealed a fresh ensemble of talent for the new installment. Rising stars Liamani Segura (Sage), Hudson Stone (Desi), Lumi Pollack (Rosie), Malachi Barton (Fletch), Casey Trotter (Cliff), Brooklynn Pitts (Callie), Ava Jean (Madison), and Sherry Cola (Lark) will lead the next generation of Camp Rockers, balancing legacy cameos with new storylines designed to resonate with today’s audience.
Disney has yet to announce an official release date, but production is currently underway. If filming wraps by the end of 2025 as expected, fans can likely anticipate Camp Rock 3 to premiere by late 2026.
The revival of Camp Rock has also brought closure to lingering questions about the cast’s real-life relationships. Demi and Nick Jonas, who were once close before drifting apart, were seen hugging backstage after Demi’s surprise performance. With their collaboration on the upcoming sequel, it seems their friendship has not only been rekindled but strengthened.
The Camp Rock films first premiered in 2008 and 2010, catapulting Lovato and the Jonas Brothers into global superstardom. Fifteen years later, the promise of a new installment has reignited the magic for fans who grew up with the franchise, while also introducing the story to an entirely new generation.
As Demi herself teased on Watch What Happens Live:
“I’m really excited for the new generation to take the lead, and yeah, you’ll just have to wait and see.”
With the perfect mix of nostalgia, fresh talent, and the original stars’ creative involvement, Camp Rock 3 is shaping up to be Disney’s next big musical event.
